This page provides details on our range of caskets and coffins. Please refer to, or download, our current prices and charges leaflet. For decorative cremated remains caskets/ urns and keepsakes, please click here. All our coffins and caskets, with the exception of some American caskets, are suitable for either burial or cremation. Where not specified, we will substitute suitable cremation fittings at no additional charge. Churchyards, as well as many cemeteries and crematoria will not accept American style caskets.

Our coffins are made from a variety of selected woods, veneers and other materials. We have chosen our suppliers with care, to ensure, as best we can, minimal environmental impact and maximum sustainability. Please note: Welham Jones reserves the right to change the specification of its products, and its chosen suppliers without notice. All woods and veneers used are from selected timbers grown in renewable forests. Other materials are derived from woods grown in renewable forests and are manufactured with no formaldehyde content. English willow is grown on the Somerset Levels part of the Somerset wetlands, and harvested only during six weeks each spring. Chinese bamboo used is cultivated in small dispersed plots within plantations licensed by the Chinese Government in areas not populated by pandas. All our solid wood coffins and caskets are hand made to order. Solid wood coffins are constructed with butt ends and solid wood bottoms.

Personal items, a photograph, flower or other keepsake can be placed in the coffin, although we will advise which, due to their material and local crematorium regulations, will have to be removed before cremation.

Nameplates are fitted to all coffins by law. Symbolic furniture is available to support a wide range of religions and associations.

Scottish cords and tassels are available, as are the Union, and national flags. Service (civil and military) and regimental flags can be obtained where requested.

Looking after the cremated remains.

If you are undecided what should be done with the cremated remains, we will return them to our offices a few days after the service, and retain them for you whilst you decide. We always ask the crematorium to supply a new plastic or cardboard urn, one that is durable and easily transportable. You might think about interring the remains, perhaps in the garden of remembrance at the crematorium or, in a churchyard, in which case a suitable cremated remains casket might be required (see below). You might consider scattering them at a favourite beauty spot, at sea or in a river, in which case please see www.environment-agency.gov.uk or ask us for advice. This site contains a limited selection; please call us for details of the extensive range we have available.
