Belmont Parade has had a Welham Jones funeral home on it since 1998, and the branch still works the way it always has: one funeral director sees your family through, start to finish. Sharon Cunningham leads the team here, and whether you’re calling at 3pm or 3am, you’ll get someone who picks up the phone properly, not a script, not a queue.
Chislehurst keeps its village feel even though Bromley’s busy high street is a short drive away, and the team here moves between the two without missing a beat. They know which crematoria get booked up fastest, which churches still hold open services for local parishioners, and how to get a wake organised at short notice when a family hasn’t had time to think that far ahead.
Nobody should feel rushed into a decision about how to say goodbye. We lay out the choices plainly, answer the same question twice if you need us to, and only ask you to commit once you're actually ready.
St Nicholas Church, Chislehurst has stood on the edge of the common for over 500 years, and its churchyard still holds a dedicated area for interring ashes, something we explain to families who didn't know the option existed. Over in Bromley, St Mary's Church, College Road, Bromley on College Road remains a regular choice for services, and we work with both with the same easy familiarity.

A funeral marks one day. A memorial is what’s there afterwards, somewhere to stand, somewhere to bring flowers on a birthday, somewhere the name stays visible.
Headstones, plaques, garden memorials, kerb surrounds, there’s a wide range, and prices vary a lot depending on stone, size, and inscription length. We work with trusted local stonemasons who know the rules different cemeteries apply.
There’s no need to rush this decision. Most cemeteries, including the ground at Green Acres Kemnal Park, ask families to wait several months after a burial before a permanent headstone goes in, simply to let the earth settle properly.
If your family already has a plot at Green Acres Kemnal Park Cemetery, Chislehurst and you’d like an existing headstone cleaned, re-lettered, or restored, that’s something we can help arrange too.
Cremation is now the choice most families in this part of Kent and South East London make, and we work closely with two crematoria nearby to arrange the practical side of it.
Hither Green Crematorium, Verdant Lane, Catford is the closer of the two for most Chislehurst and Bromley families, and it’s the only crematorium on our local list serving this branch specifically, its traditional chapel seats around 80 and offers both religious and non-religious ceremonies.
Beckenham Crematorium, Elmers End Road is the other option many families consider, set in peaceful gardens with wheelchair access and capacity for larger services. A typical cremation, from the day of death to the service itself, usually takes two to three weeks, though this can vary depending on the coroner and registrar.
Afterwards, what happens to the ashes is entirely up to the family. Some choose to keep them at home, some scatter them somewhere meaningful, Scadbury Park, with its 300 acres of ancient woodland on the edge of Chislehurst, is one spot families sometimes choose, though there are plenty of others worth considering too.
Flowers say something words sometimes can’t, and there’s no single right way to do them, some families want a single, simple wreath; others want something bold and colourful that reflects exactly who the person was.
